I painted the wood trim on my Tudor SW Urbane bronze, it is a classic dark color for the half-timbering, but softer than what you currently have. My stucco is a similar color to yours (at least from what I can tell on my monitor.)

Sounds as though you meant it as a joke, but I seriously do think that a red door would look gorgeous on this house with the current paint color. Disclaimer: I am not a pro. Full disclosure: Although I do not have one myself, I have always felt drawn to red doors.

You could do a light olive with tan that pick up the detail around your door like this house's colors.

It is gorgeous as it is. Please don't do it in craftsman colors or pastels. It's a Tudor. No red door.

Full disclosure - I have a Tudor myself. There are lots of them in my neighborhood and some people have gone with non-traditional colors. They don't look good, at least to my eye they don't. My stucco is cream colored, with dark brown for the half timbering and all the trim. I love it.

I prefer celery's first brown and white edition of it for staying classic.

We have a similar style home that we painted last summer. We wanted it to look traditional but a little updated, and ended up with sw neutral ground with sealskin for the trim.

A lighter warm cream would look nice.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! After seeing some of the suggestions I agree that keeping it traditional will look best, and lightening the color of cream to not be so buttery would be a great improvement. I love the first photo from celery girl and also the modern feel of LL's exterior in sealskin color. I also like Kathy's cream color suggestion- Kathy- any idea what color that is?

Also, I was not joking about the red door for an additional pop and modern touch to the traditional exterior. Any suggestions for door colors would be appreciated too. :)

Julie the best example of the cream I’m suggesting is WW33 by Ralph Lauren. It is called Wash Basin. You really would have to sample some colors because your area and site would make a huge difference in colors.

I really like the color that Kathy posted for the cream and love this look of cream on cream. However I don’t think it’s do-able with our brown roof and gutters. Does everyone agree?

Lighten the body of the house, but, keep the timbers similar color. The lighter color on the timbers, just does not look right. Sorry to say, Tudors, usually have a stained wood door. However, guess, it is your house, and if you want a colored door, you could have it. Just remember that once you paint over the stain, it will be nearly impossible, without a whole ton of work, to get it back to bare wood, so it can be restained. I love the colors you have right now. They seem perfect for a tudor to me.

I just wanted to mention that I feel for you with the flanking white colonials with the black shutters - especially on city-sized lots. It's such a stark color scheme that it can really throw off the "feel" of the street.

I think you would still need to keep a darker color for the timbers with your roof. I do like a lighter warm creamy white for the body of the house.

If you aren’t quite ready for the red door get some big red ceramic pots for the front porch.

Thanks everyone. I will lighten the base color to a lighter cream and keep the brown accent colors. The door is already painted (not stained) so I may end up painting that an accent color or try the red pots idea. We plan to paint in the late Spring so I will update with a new picture after!
