Creative minds needed! Help w/ main living area/kitchen remodel layout

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>Hi to all of you creative minds out there!! With our growing family of 5 kids, we feel like our space could be more efficient. And with the kitchen flooring completely shot, it's time to replace the flooring and might as well change the layout too as well, since our cabinets are outdated too. The first layout in the first picture is the current floor layout. The second layout/picture is the layout we are leaning towards. The third and fourth pictures are two more layout options we had considered. The first option would be the most cost efficient so far. Because the sink and windows would stay in the same place. (Although the window above the sink will probably get upgraded to a little bigger one in the future) And the most important thing is, we are also trying to keep the costs down as much as possible, at the same time being able to host a crowd of18 people at once. Our current layout only allows 8 people at our table comfortably. We plan to make a custom table that will allow seating 3 on a side. (with extensions that allow up to 18 or so) I know we could hire a designer, but I wanted to hear all your creative ideas too. My husband is a carpenter so creative ideas can happen!

Great!! Only half of my post made it on! And no pics!....will try again....Here's the rest....And I'm leaving up the building codes up to him! We are just getting ideas now as to the layout at this point. The issues I have with the layout we are leaning towards is -

#1. The range- we want things to be as open as possible. Do we leave it all open from counter top to ceiling and install a ceiling mounted hood? Or do a full wall up to the ceiling only behind the range and do faux brick or stone around the whole thing and maybe do a wood beam eventually running parallel to that row of counters dividing the livingroom from kitchen. One thing to remember in this scenario is that the couch will likely be right on the other side of the counter/ behind range wall...If we did a ceiling mounted hood, my concern is that it wouldn't be as efficient as a wall or island hood? Or how do you find that?

#2. I'd kinda like a dedicated coffee station. But where? Would kinda be nice if it was close to the table. I had originally planned it on the end of the counter by the range, but it will stick up past the counter top height.

#3. Where to put my china in this layout? If you look at the original layout you'll notice a corner China cabinet in the dining room. I'm not stuck on keeping this cabinet. I toyed with the idea of putting it in the cabinet on the end by the planned sliding door. But I had thought of putting a hole in counter top and trash would be in there... if I don't put trash in there, then where? We use a bigger trash can as we have more people in our house.

For the rest of the layouts we rejected it mainly cuz it would be way more work and money to change to those plans. But maybe someone else could think of something else from those ideas? It's kinda empty cuz we didn't get very far planning those.

The measurements of the floor from outside wall to other outside wall is 24 feet (up and down on drawing) and across is 21 feet from current dining room window to stair railing is 21 feet. It's 22½ from that same wall to the office closet.
