Two years ago not only were the banana's larger,they were many more on one stem. This was a surprise difference. But two years ago I followed the advice to cut the whole bunch at one time and it never did ripen well off the plant.

I tried letting them get yellow on the tree this year...but some just haven't even puffed up. Winter and spring in the bay area has been cloudy.

First bunch years ago - very small. Next year 3 bunch 2x to 3x as large

Yep,only in reverse this year for me. My 2017 harvest was bigger banana's..poor taste. This year,good taste but tiny nanners. Most are blue green,green. Hard to figure this plant out because last time they never turned a blue green.

Mine were similar to store banana, more of a smoother texture difference. A friend from India said they reminded her of banana's from home.

I have one in a pot now, trying to decide where to put it so the leaves don't get too shredded.

I notice that M. paradisiaca around town have stayed green..shredded green,but green. Today,I saw my "Ice Cream" with a new green spear. M.paradisiaca is also about the largest clumping common banana. But not edible..one of the Burro Bananas..what you feed them to.

I am in so Cal, but I have a friend that grows those bananas. This year, his crop was oversized, but bland. Usually they are smaller (3-4") but delicious.

Today. Going to let them ripen in doors 2 or 3 days before tasting.

Ok..sweet. Sort of a apple flavor mixed in. Now,I would not say VERY sweet..but plenty good and different flavor banana.

The wife bought "Thai Bananas" at the local Seafood City. Tasted the same as my home grown..that is less sweet than Chiquita,but with other flavors mixed in. Plus,some just like them smaller for snacks and not like the bigger market types.
