BOM April 2019 Chimneys & Cornerstones

It's April! So maybe Spring is really here and things will start to warm up.

Here's the April BOM. No half-square triangles this month! It is square, but I seem to have a hard time getting a good picture. The pattern can be found at:

Nice, Bev! I like your bright colors.

It's warm here in Florida! We had one day last week where the high was in the upper 60s then it went right back to 80 degrees.

Hmmm, I see how this block could be used as a 'connecting' block. Good choice, Bev.

Rainy and 55 at 11am on this April 1st at my house in Florida. No chance of 80 until Thursday......so the forecast says. :-)

I just came back from an exercise class ( am I ever out of shape) and as soon as I catch my breath, I will be down gathering my blues and yellows.

Thanks Bev for a lovely block.

Oh yes, the temp is 40 and we had snow yesterday. Mother Nature's early trick. Crafty old broad!

I love this block. I may make a few of these. As Sharon says, it's a good connecting block. Not sure when I'm going to get to it this month.

    Thanks, Bev.

    OK, what's a connecting block?

Looking forward to catching up on March's block, so I can start on April's block!

    Thanks for sharing.

PS...We've had snow flurries in SC this morning! Going to rummage through my scrap bin while I wait for the temperature to rise before running errands. Brrr! :)

    Bev,

Connecting block is something you can use between blocks to make a larger quilt. See thisquilt pic for a traditional sampler quilt layout.

I was thinking of making just 3 or 4 of this block to go across the quilt and have other blocks in either half.

Thank you, Vasu. I can see where it brings some continuity to the quilt. Now I'll have to think if that is something I'd like to do with my blocks.

I got my two blocks finished this afternoon.

Quite easy and quick. Thank you Bev, again

Thanks, Bev and Vasu, for asking and answering the question about connecting blocks. I thought I had never made a quilt using that concept, but I looked back and, lo and behold, Chunky Churn Dash uses the hourglass block as the connecting block. Live and learn.

Very pretty blocks, Bev and Theresa.

Lois, very colorful quilt. Nice blocks Theresa and Bev. I had a few days off this week and since its raining I can't do any yard work, so I put my blocks together, too. This is a nice easy, but very appealing block. Good choice for the BOM, Bev, thank you! I think I like the first one better.

I do like your colours Char, partial to the blue in the second one. It was easy wasn't it?

Just returned from a few days away sewing with some guild sewing friends so I’m just catching up. Nice block Bev...thanks for keeping this up!

What a nice thread, lovely work everybody! I love seeing all the variety of colors & different takes on the block. So effective in that black based quilt!

    Enjoy the Holidays everyone.
