What to do in April???

I have nine quilts ready for the bazaar in Nov. so I think I can slow down. But the ideas are rolling around in my head. I did cut some papers this morning for string blocks, and I saw a picture on Pinterest of something interesting so I might try that. I did start a set of very plain placemats yesterday.

We are going up to Ottawa next week for several days. DGGD#2 will be two and there will be a party. Then comes Easter and we will be having our Christmas dinner with two families. Better driving weather now than Dec.

Later that week will be my birthday, number 86, whew! No party for that though.

So that is my April.

No specific goals for me. We are probably going to do a lot of yard work one weekend. A friend who is very talented with landscaping said he'd come help us.

I'd like to finish the Monterrey Medallion top. It needs 32 Jacob's Ladder blocks for the border. One is done; most of the parts for the rest are cut and all the HSTs are sewn.

Sharon, I can't remember any April Fool's tricks, so if there were any they must not have been that great. :)

I'm back to three days a week at work, so I should have more time and energy for quilting. I want to make another BOM. I may try and quilt another runner for the auction since they are not due until next Sunday. Continue cutting scraps and try and get enough done for 3-4 quilts. I'm going to the doc on April 10 to see about getting a knee replacement. Once I know when that will be scheduled, I hope to be able to get my quilting bees in before surgery.

Happy Birthday Theresa! I hope you have a very nice one. I am just getting ready for the Paducah AQS show in 2 weeks. My sister will be coming for 5 days and we will spend most of the time either at the show, in class or quilting at home together. I am really looking forward to the time with her. Hope everyone is enjoying this warming weather!

Donna, There are times I think making blocks goes quicker if the pieces are cut before hand, and other times, not. I guess it depends on the pattern. At least for me. Stay hydrated when outside.

Bev, Less work, more time for quilting. Hope things work out that your knee feels better.

Two BOMs are made and I have a few blocks kitted for retreat. And, found out we're having a great-great grandgirl in August so a pink baby quilt is in progress.

Not local.....in the U.P. of Michigan. Daughter hopes to take me up there the end of summer.

My goal this month is just to get back to quilting. I started quilting my little kimono wall hanging, but I may do some ripping, since I'm not very happy with it. I also would like to finish the snowball child's quilt that I'm working on. I have one child's quilt in reserve, but I hear that there will be two new additions in our family this year - great nieces or nephews. I'm so excited to get started on a new quilt called "Crossroads" from Paula Barnes and Mary Ellen Robison's book Tributes and Treasures. I have all the fabric for it, including the backing which I got for $4.55 a yard at the going-out-of-business sale.

Spring is such a busy time of year though. Golf league starts in a couple of weeks (if the 10" of snow we got yesterday and overnight melts, that is), the gardens need to be cleaned, mahjong starts up again now that the snow birds are returning to Minnesota and our choral concert is two weeks away. So much to do. How did I ever find time to work? I guess I didn't play nearly as much.
