You could simply Lime Wash the brick and NOT paint it. IMO the lime wash is more interesting than paint.

You can apply the lime wash lightly or heavy depending on the appearance you want. Paint the shutters, the black seems too dark.

From what little I can see I like it as it is.

Could you take a picture facing the porch and door?

Red brick houses often have a white porch. I am not sure why you see that as a problem.

You could paint it gray or a dusty green.

Do not paint the brick.

I would not touch the brick. The white could be more creamy and the siding a medium blue or green. But leave the brick alone.

I wouldn't recommend painting the brick. Considering it's difficult to tell from the photo and digital representation is never the same as in person when it comes to colors, I would recommend hiring a design professional in your area for a color consultation. That's a big overhaul if you don't get the colors right.

No to painting or lime washing the brick unless of course you want to immediately devalue your house.I would do the sidng in a soft gray/ green and the trim a bit warmer white I love the porch it seems to suit the house perfectly.I think I would remove the shutters and widen the trim on those windows

Your house is beautiful as it is. If you need to do any kind of painting, then paint the trim. Why paint brick and turn it into a maintenance feature. The brick is very nice as it is. .

Your photo doesn't show much of your house. From what I can see, it's lovely! A timeless classic as one of the other posters said. If this were my house, I would concentrate on cleaning up the landscaping. I see some overgrown plantings next to the house that need tending or replacing. Perhaps add a couple of flower beds. Won't take much, your house already has great curb appeal.

Thank you for all the great comments! We are just wanting to update the house to a) match the neighborhood and b) make it attractive to buyers when we list it in a few weeks! I love the look of the house below, but our porch is what throws me off?!? Would I paint it dark as well?
