It would be a painted tongue and groove wood ceiling

A taupe ceiling wouldnt be my choice, and why use tongue and groove, if you are just going to paint it. You already have a ceiling that can be painted. I would paint the ceiling you have the same peachy color you want to put on the walls. Its a very nice room, but, right now, it has no color except for the blue lines in the rug. It could use some colored pillows, and I would replace the two, chairs with something that is a bit more comfortable looking. Those look like they should be at a dining room table.

IMO you're headed in the wrong color direction.

You might consider a darker brown, like the trim. If you went in that direction, you would need different throw pillow colors, and replace the Florida look wicker pieces.

On another note, center the rug in the room...it is way off-side. Put the front legs of the sofa on it, and both dining chairs, as well.

I agree with oncape that the ceiling would look great in a stained finish the same as the window trim. Change out the occasional table, rug and accessories to make the room feel cohesive.
