They look yummy! FYI they say you get the best flavor if you thin to one peach per foot of branch.
And TECHNICALLY the patented name is "Flordaprince", without the "i". Same with Flordaking. I don't know why.
Both are among the best of the early peaches I grow, but both are also the WORST for peach leaf curl. I still grow them anyway. Yum!

You are completely correct on the patent name. However on the thining I have never tasted a difference from when I thin and when I don't. I do have a difference in size. When I thin they get bigger. This year I decided on more small peach because they are the perfect size for toddlers. Makes them so happy to pick there own perfectly sized peaches.

And, if I can grow loquats here, can I grow peaches? Or do they take different

Mr1010 yes you can grow peaches the uf has developed many different types and there is a type for every area of Florida now. As far as birds and squirrels I don't have many problems. I have mulberries and they are much more interested in them than the peaches.

Sultry, one of his peaches is very productive, the early variety. He told me that I can pick the peaches but I don't want to. I have enough with my peach that taste better than his and my white nectarine.

Glenn, I tried the Florida grown peaches at the farmers market, and I could not believe it . They had no flavor compared to my home grown.

Silvia, I have had the same issue with the peaches I bought compared to the peaches I have grown its because they picked them to early and they are not grown in a good living soil

I am going to have to get some peach trees! I got some peaches at the farmer's market last year but they were very ripe. I was going to go for some orange fleshed type but the seller told me he recommended the white fleshed ones he had. Oh man, they were so good and juicy. I wish I knew what kind they were so I could get that tree. I think they were from Georgia.

I looked up some peach trees and there is a Tropic Snow peach that is white and supposed to be very sweet. Only 200 chill hrs.

Sultry, tropic snow is a great peach and a good production tree. It is very sweet.

I'm sad because we used to have a produce stand here in town that periodically bought excess from local backyard growers, so they had peaches the size of big walnuts, but oh, so sweet, and little sugar apples, and things like that, but with the current real estate frenzy the land where their stand was has become so valuable they shut down and sold it.

Writersblock, that is how I lost my favorite nursery. It is now a gas station. I don't consider that a improvement.

Sigh. Yeah. This place was out in farmland when they started, but then hospice built out there and medical office buildings began sprouting around that, and then assisted living facilities, and then….

Total peach harvest this year. 332 peaches, 3 damaged by birds, 1 lost to squirrel. I believe that will do just fine.

I am enjoying the peaches also, when I get hit with a big harvest I work very fast to use it all, whether I eat them fresh, make preserves, share it with others.

I had a large bucket that had to be used, so I made a cookie crust and pile up the peaches on top. It was very good, easy to cut, no sogginess like sometimes in a pie. Some are in the fridge and others went to the freezer, cut perfect for a snack size.

I did not make more because my freezer is loaded with banana bread, cookies and muffins.

When the avocado season starts I will be mailing them with the blueberry preserves that I made, those are my family's favorite jam.

I am looking forward to the mango harvest also....

Silvia, we are eating them just as fast as we can. Blue berry perserves, yum. My little mango didn't bloom yet but it will get there. I have a apple this year.

I'm so jealous! I want a peach tree so badly, but without any full sun, I probably wouldn't get much of a harvest.

DG, they do need that full sun. So worth having.
