Texas folks: have you built an addition?

So we living in an 868 2/1 bungalow and would love to add an addition to the back that has a stairway leading up to two bedrooms 10x10 bedrooms that would be over our current laundry room/porch.

My questions is: have any of you north Texas folks ever built an addition? How much did it cost?

Why ask what some other random addition costs? Whatever the price, your project will be different.

If you are serious, have someone develop plans and get bids.

Come back when you’ve got 300K to spend on a tear down and rebuild, or have moved to a new house instead of this one . What you want isn’t at all cost effective.

Agree with GreenDesigns. We are in North Texas—you can realize some upside in certain areas if you add to the square footage through a complete tear down and rebuild. Anything short of that is going to cost way more than you’ll ever get back (as in, for each $2 you spend, your home value will only increase $1). Better off selling and buying a house that fits your needs.

Plus, what you described sounds like an architectural disaster waiting to happen.
