I can’t return them. I plan on adding a solid colour area rug

You could put solid envelope covers over the pillows or just not use them. Get a cozy, textured throw for the chair to minimize the pattern that shows and make the best of it.

Sell them and get something you love?

What about putting one at each end of the couch facing each other to break up the pattern?

The chairs are nice..I'm sorry you don't like them..

What about calming the room down with a different print that picks up the colors in them?

I see three things that would help. First, get rid of the matching pillows. They just add confusion. Second, your floor is very busy and the color doesn't flatter the chairs, so I would add a large quite plain rug--no more pattern. Third, the art contrasts too much with the chairs, especially with the pillows on the couch. Consider moving it to another room. If you want to keep it in this room, then try to bring in some of its red/orange color somewhere in the room. I think that it could look OK if you took the pillows off the couch.

I like the chairs and I like them with your art, but I'd ditch the matching pillows and try to bring in more colors and pattern to complement the chairs and reduce the impact of the fabric since you don't care for it.

I love those chairs. But I would buy a bigger, more robust coffee table. And that painting is fabulous.

Well. What you are saying is you hate them in the room as installed...........because they have no CONTEXT.! You must have liked SOMETHING about them when you bought them

First, move the painting to another room. , Lose the matching pillows

I don’t hate the chairs, but I think if you remove the matching pillows, you will see an immediate improvement.

Get a throw for one of the chairs , get rid of the pillows and find some that work with the painting and a solid color rug

A CALMER piece of artwork, or CALMER chairs. The "patterns/scale in both together create an unhinged "busy busy" difficult to overcome. Even with the matching pillows removed. Calm it down and your best bet is art, pillow and rug, and cocktail table as you need those last three just mentioned, in any scenario that will resemble a more finished and welcoming space.

I like the chairs and think you're well on your way to creating an inviting room. The matching pillows on the sofa are the only things I find objectionable. Replace them as has already been suggested and that alone will be a big improvement. But the chairs? They're fun! Give them a chance.

The art is a real problem because it just doesn't fit the room. I would get a series of photographs framed in simple black, but please take your time to visit some galleries and buy something original, not mass-produced. The pattern of the chairs clash with the art and the look you are going for would be achieved with a more sophisticated piece on the well.

Sometimes it takes a while to get used to something. If you really like that picture in that room, I’d find a way to bring some red in maybe at the floor level. Otherwise, yes, it might be too much, the picture funny enough, operates in the same way, visually as the chairs. You are drawn to the shapes, the scale, something keeps drawing you back lol. Maybe you can find more tree/leaf and bird related motifs in other things.

The art with the chairs is the first thing I noticed. Totally agree with something more calming. That and calmer pillow covers should really help.

Doing this for now, navy pillows toned it down and I’ve ordered a solid Navy Rug that’s 12x9.. I have our outdoor rug in there now so I could better visualize what it will look like. I’ll take some more pictures when it’s all done in a few weeks. Thanks for the help. They are growing on me

I'm sorry you removed your art. I truly think just changing out the sofa pillows that match the chairs would make your art work fine in your room.

Something more calming, everyone said. How about picking up the pretty blue and green from the chair fabric and scattering that around in pillows, throws, art and accessories? I would center the sofa on that wall with art 5" above it. Turn the tables lengthwise and pull them forward so guests don't have to turn and reach behind them to put something on the table. Then angle the chairs opposite the sofa. Put 18" or less between the coffee table and all seats to be useful. Anchor all on a solid rug wider than the sofa. Add an upholstered bench under the window.

Since the walls are so green, it looks like a area rug with an olive green should be considered.

I like your art. Move the printed pillows from the sofa, place one on each chair, that keeps that pattern all in one area, which IMO would look better. Love your room, and like your chairs, glad they are growing on you too.
