squeaky floor near bathtub and gap at baseboard

Hi there - we are nearly complete with a bathroom remodel and I've noticed that the area near our newly installed bathtub (under our new tile) is new squeaking when walked on. Our old tub that was in the same place before didn't have this issue in the floor surrounding it. The old tub was cast iron and the new tub is acrylic, if that matters. My contractor thinks the squeaking is because of the weight difference between the two tubs. Anyone experience this?

Secondly, it looks like there is a minor gap (maybe a 1/4 of an inch) between the floor boards and the tile floor. Is this something that normally happens or can that be fixed? If so, how would one fix the gap?
