3M makes a window film that is applied directly to windows to reduce the sun's damage. I would suggest considering this film layered with a type of window treatment. Could be a curved rod with traversing drapes for the bow (use same approach on all windows.) Could be shades. I think it depends on your style - clean modern - shades, traditional - curtain or combine in layers - shades and curtains. The film will help a lot.
