Which kitchen floorpan should we go with?

We're having a hard time deciding where to locate the refrigerator and the oven range in our new kitchen design. Hoping Houzz kitchen professionals can help with our dilemma!

In a vacuum, I prefer the first one, but it really depends on the traffic flow to and from the adjoining rooms. Can you post a floor plan showing the layout of the whole floor?

At first glance I preferred the first design. Upon further review, however, I think the second design makes it easier for someone to be working at the sink while someone else is working at the stove.

I have 1 and it is hard to have somebody working at the sink and the stove. We always end up bumping into one another.

We' re planning to move to 2 with perhaps a little more space between sink and range and hopefully, it will work better.

Like others have asked, a full floorplan will help. But as it stands I prefer option 1. But move the sink and DW to the right, closer to fridge to get more room between range and sink.

Option 2 has the the sink jammed up against the corner plus the DW between sink and range which is a GW big no! Also the fridge is up against a wall that will hinder getting the doors to open enough to access drawers and such. (Why is that wall there?)

Once you post a full floorplan you will probably get more thorough and useful suggestions.

The usual work flow is fridge to sink to stove.

BUT, you also have to consider use. You may want the fridge a little bit away from the actual work/prep space because guests are usually getting in and out of the fridge and can do so easily without getting in your way.

We made a "drink station" next to the fridge with a countertop and cabinets. The glasses are in the uppers, coffee maker on the countertop, etc.

So, I kind of like #1, but, I hate microwaves above the range. I am short, I cook a lot and people want to help. So, for me, having the microwave away from the chaos of things has worked out wonderfully for me.

I like a stove on an outside wall so the 2nd one gets proper ventilation with a proper hood not a MW a counter depth fridge . Is there a reason for the wall beside the door . it make the space feel much smaller Posting the 2 D floor plan with details will be a good idea.

What is in the middle of the floor? Hard to tell from what is posted.

First design is much better. I would recommend getting rid of the wall closing in the doorway and move the beam up into the ceiling. It make no sense spending so much money on a new kitchen and not spending $2000 to put a laminated beam into the ceiling and thus getting rid of this funky element in your kitchen. I'd also move the pantry all the way to the left and the floating shelves right making kitchen feel much more open especially when you get rid of the wall and beam.

Less experienced designers obsess over things being centered but function and cabinet symmetry trump things being centered. Because of this I would make sure that the cabinet doors on either side of the microwave hood the same size. Eliminate the blind corner cabinet and get a 36 x 36" corner super susan instead. Then make the sink base a 24" wide sink cabinet which will fit a standard 21 1/2" wide single bowl sink (less experienced people will say it is too tight). Now your sink will not be centered under the window but the kitchen will look better overall and be much more functional. You will have much better access to the corner with the Easy Reach door on the Super Susan, hence the name. Your hip will no longer be against the countertop while working at the sink and people working at the range and the sink will be farther apart. Especially if you take advantage of the added space when you remove the wall and move the range left a few inches. Keep the cabinets left of the range 18".

The microwave hood can easily vent outside by running the ductwork behind the stacked crown molding that should be on top of the cabinets and reaching the ceiling.
