Without much other detail, one option to consider:

Move sink to the island. Center the stove behind your island.

Put the fridge/freezer on the wall where your stove is now.

I think your architect is right about the pantry wall not being the best location for your fridge. That would make your island a "barrier island" because you'd constantly have to walk around the island with things from the fridge that you want to wash, prep, and cook.

Your design is correct, having the fridge on the pantry wall would make the island a major obstacle anytime you needed to get there. You ideal want the distance between the fridge and sink close. The fridge is actually in a good location in this plan. I think a giant fridge would consume this kitchen, those types of fridge designs only work in very large spaces. If you're 100% set on it though, move the sink to the island (not ideal with an island that size) or put a prep sink in the island.

How about a smaller fridge and some refrigerator drawers near the stove for cooking ingredients

Go ahead and put the refrigerator where you want it. You will either find out:

A) It is no big deal, or

B) How smart your architect is.

Consider a variation of mmilos' suggestion moving the stove to the island and locate the refrigerator where the stove was.

No one mandates that the freezer be next to the fridge. They serve different storage needs. Keep the fridge where it is. But you will lose 36"+ of pantry space to get a freezer there. It depends on the models you are considering. If you are thinking about the Frigidaire Twins, they are 33" with the trim kit, and need fillers adjacent, so take up 36" of room each overall.

I have my Sub-zero integrated columns (36" + 24") in a similar spot to your pantry and it works great. I have a prep sink in the island and no overhang/stools at the island, but I prep at the main sink. I don't find it a large distance at all. If you have a larger kitchen the appliances are going to be further apart anyway, so it really isn't an issues.

I would have gone bigger on the 24" freezer, but I didn't have any room to expand in that location.

If you insist on losing that pantry for that much refrigeration, the island needs to attach as a peninsula to the sink side to open up the traffic paths to them. Otherwise, it’s just a hip banger to have to constantly walk around. And are you going to give up the hutch for s pantry?

I have all fidge all freezer in a wall with a pantry and an island my island has back to back sinks and my stove is on the other side of the island I have loved it for 12 years and I also love those fr/ fr . I have the Fridgidair ones and have put the Electrolux ones in 2 clients homes in the past 2 years. Mine are 12 yrs old not one service call and cost under 4K .BTW make the pantries actul pullout ones they store so much more that is easy to find. I have the builtin kit for mine

If you want an elephant in your kitchen, you don't try to fit him in at the last minute. You start the design with the placement of the elephant. That house wasn't designed to have a kitchen with an elephant. If the elephant is a must, redesign the house. Not just the kitchen. The rest of the house is out of scale to stand up to six feet of stainless steel monoliths.

I agree my kitchen designs always start with the appliances and their placement and BTW your architect is not a KD so get one now and not a cabinet salesperson either

After my original dismay that folks didn't agree with me, I've come up with another idea! Would the kitchen "flow" better if we put the 3' All Fridge in the R spot (on the plan above) and add the All Freezer to the pantry wall? Both will be built into the surrounding cabinets.

I am looking at the Frigidaire Gallery models, and like the shallow depth (and great reviews). I have a problem with losing things in my deeper fridge/freezer combo, and fantasize that the wide, shallow design will help me stay on top of things. I appreciate all suggestions!

Yes, it will break up the wall of steel. If you must have both, that's the best solution. Take a look at the Thermador columns. They come in various sizes. My friend just installed them in a problem space and they look great. She's very happy with them.
