I " like" 1 best, but I think it is very cool and doesn't enhance the warmth of granite...leaning to 2

How funny - so many differing opinions! I think I like the 4th. Usually, I like simpler options, but I think 4 is the best with the granite. The 3rd is my second choice.

Hi Jackhammer, congrats on your kitchen! Something clean and simple...

The cleanest, lightest one, the plainest one. In the first pic of three, on the left. The middle one in the first pic? For some reason it nearly makes me physically sick to see all those colors. My eye jumps from one to the next to the next . . . Way too busy. Keep it simple and add color in places that can be easily changed.

#2 is not great with the floor tile. #1 and #3 are better with the floor tile. It would be safer to keep it simple.

After seeing the flooring, I think #3

Definitely # 1......plain with some texture....that will draw your eye towards the granite and not fight with the other busy/colours of # 2 & 4 and the washed out color # 3

Contrast is more interesting than blending with a matching color. Enlarge your options. I do like neutrals vs colored tile, as the color can go out of style.

With these three options, I would select number 2 for the focal interest of the colors and the richness of the glass tile.

Go with the multi-colored glass tile. It provides more depth & contrast with the granite. Use non-sanded grout to prevent scratching the glass, be sure your substrate is plumb & clean & use an anti-mold/anti-stain additive so that you're not a slave to cleaning your grout.

I think we eliminated the stone and have narrowed it down to either the plain or multi-cored tile. I know it's difficult for others to really get a feel for the whole house without seeing it and how the kitchen ties it together without filming it. Here's a close up of the runner ups. There was also a whiter glass tile we were considering but I we ruled it out before this post. All your comments are great and we take them all into consideration. This is a cool site.

I like 1 and 4. One for the simplicity and bringing out the white cabinets. 4 matches granite well, but may be too busy considering the whole picture.

If your walls are green as shown in the picture, 4 would match it nicely.

My personal favorite is #2. It picks up all of the colors in the granite and throughout the kitchen.

#1. Using #2 or #4 might tie in colours together, but I think the patterns themselves don't complement each other - they're just fighting each other.

Of the 3, I would go with #1.

My pick would be # 2..

You should check with your tile installer about that back wall being 2 colors. They show through glass and affect the color on the front.

Number 2 looks custom designed to go with that granite.

Well. We're going with #1. Although the multicolor tile is fun, I think #1 off white glass will stand the test of time. The next step will be deciding which grout color. I think a white grout will work well. Thank you all for the help and comments. I'll post photos of the aftermath soon.

Yay!! this graphic designer absolutely loves your choice! the gorgeous granite is quite busy with beautiful detail -- now it will really be shown off well, as it will become the centerpiece.

The granite countertop is beautiful. IMO the clear (warm white?) glass tile would be a great tile -- it won't compete with the countertop and the light in the room would, most likely bounce off of the glass backsplash. In addition, depending on your lighting, flooring and appliances, the backsplash can (to echo an earlier post) become the centerpiece if that's what is intended.

I'm doing the same thing. What I am going to do is put up 3x6 ceramic subway tile. One row will be replaced with 3 rows of glass accent tile. The solid subway tile would not take away from the texture of the granite and the glass accent can add that extra pop.

Pssst .. Ed ... Subway tile .. LOL!

Just redid my kitchen...this is backsplash I used. Love it...the small tile pulls all colors together..hope this helps

#2 will be neutral if you want to change wall color, I would choose #1 if it weren't so shiny. Maybe #1 in matte finish?

#2 adds some light play to the granite and is beautiful!

Use flat pale colors, white, light grey,etc. Glass tiles are great, easy to clean and make the space look bigger and brighter. I wouldn't choose so tiny tiles, there a lot of texture already with your countertop, panels of cabinets, etc.

Definitely #1. It's a beautiful glass tile and does not compete with the granite. The different sheens of the glass tile will add interest and shine as well.

Glad you chose number 1. I just built a new bathroom and used similar style, multi color glass & marble tiles you showed. BUT, I only used it as an accent strip on the shower. It would have been too busy for your backsplash. A little goes a long way.

#1 is great! it is also the cleanest, most contemporary look. You really notice the granite top with this subtle, clean tile. I can't wait to see it! the after!..

3 looks like it will tie in all your colors
