Ikea makes some nice, well-priced vanities with optional sinks. Perhaps this 56-1/4" GODMORGON / ODENSVIK would meet your style requirements.

I found decorplanet.com and qualitybath.com to be good sites for vanity search and purchase. I bought a vanity that was available with and without an integrated sink; I bought the sink because it was so much less expensive than a separate countertop and undermount sink would have been. -- amateur

Friends have three Ikea Godmorgon vanities and are very pleased with them, storage and quality-wise.

Check out the HEMNES / RÄTTVIKEN version from Ikea -- it has a traditional-ish feel.

Also, Home Depot can do old school cultured marble custom tops that are probably inexpensive compared to quartz if you're ok with just white but they do also come in some faux finishes too.

Oh, I didn't realize that the Godmorgon with the Kasjon front (white/gray/dark gray) would be considered modern.

We got this Wyndham Collection Deborah vanity for our master bath, and I love it. We got an 84" double, but they also have a 48" one. (And a 60", also a standard size -- but too big, right?)

The 54" Fresca Oxford is very similar to the Wyndham Deborah above.

Best quality pre-made vanities I have found are from Strasser Woodworks and Ronbow.

Check your dimension on current vanity. What is now standard does not always fit our older homes. A friend found their 1960's vanity with not the same depth as the replacement one they bought. I thought I would just replace the yellow cultured marble top in the kids' bath only to find it is a 64 inch width while standard is 60 or 48.

I have a Ronbow freestanding vanity and top in my Powder Room. It's a good quality product.

get it custom, you might be surprised at the price. I would only do drawers, not shelving behind doors. Much easier to access things. You can get drawer fronts for IKEA cabinets that are available by independent fabricators.

I am wondering about the ready made vainity tops that do not have a lip on the edges. I think they look cheap. I am needing to replace a builtin vanity in a condo, I am not doing the floor right now so I need a vanity that is the same foot print. My contractor is steering me to a ready made vanity with top. But the thin tops that go right to the edge of the vanity look cheap, even if I add a side and back splash
