What color will the floors be? What color will the beams be? It's not just the wall color to consider for the fireplace wash - you want to consider the other major elements as well. The fireplace being such a large element, IMO it needs to bridge white walls and what I assume will be warmer wood elements based on the beams. Even if you do the floors natural, unless you are bleaching them they will still have warmth. No experience with the Romabio product at all - sorry.

The floors will be medium brown stain as they are now - just a refresh and our beam the same color. The Romabio colors are all neutral or white colors, warm and cool white colors. Built-ins will go back in when I remodel the entire kitchen which is on the other end of room. Most likely will be White Dove cabinets and quartz counter tops with some other elements.

I like it the way it is.

With all the feedback from other sites - it looks like the Romabio color will be Avorio. This color goes best with the BM White Dove. I did put the Crystallo on the fireplace and it is a beautiful color - just a tad bit creamier compared to the white dove.

Avorio is a very close match to Benjamin Moore's OC-17 White Dove. In color science terms, color data values, their CIELAB values are almost the same.

I like it without the built-ins. I've never used that product but it looks pretty forgiving. You will get a different look because of how multi-colored your bricks are. I think it will look better than the demo because of the variation. Start on one of the sides so you can get your technique down and become familiar with the product. Good luck!

UPDATE: I used Avorio Romabio and love it. Instead of 1:1 ratio (1 qt Romabio with 1 quart of water) - I mixed 1 qt with 24 oz of water. I wanted it to go on a little thicker. Also I waited hours before distressing it so I could live with it solid white - which I do love. I have now done some distressing with a rag (instead of spray bottle) on it and the nice thing is if I don't like it, I can paint over it when my 2nd quart arrives to finish the hearth. I have 5 days to play with it. My test spot from 6 days ago has now hardened. The first pic is it drying. The top bricks have dried and you can see some are still wet. They dry darker and more opaque. The last pic is with some distressing. I bought the Romabio masonry brush but ended up not using it. It is great if you are painting outside but inside - it splatters too much getting it on surrounding areas. I just used a regular paint brush.

It was only 8 oz water left out so I don't think it would be too much difference. It is still a very thin liquid mix the way I did it - not thick at all so you really need to put down some drop cloths. (The actual product is thick and looks like putty in the can) Also it is so deceiving because it looks light going on and then it darkens and becomes opaque with good coverage. I did 2 test spots on the side of fireplace about 6 days ago. I was so nervous but truly it is so easy. I will probably be playing with it a few more days. I have until Tuesday to get my desired look - so I will be tinkering with it a lot I am sure. Also I think it will look better and complete once I put a mantle on it and decor.

I am stressing about the distressing. lol - When is enough enough. My daughter is an artist and I feel like her. She says you are never really through with a painting. You just have to stop or you could go on forever.

The trick is to stop before you reach that oops I went too far point! We all get hyper focused on one element of a project and it's so easy to do with something like paint. But you're right, when the mantel and decor are in place it will become part of the beautiful whole.

Romabio sent me their paint sample card and it arrived in just a couple days. Much easier after seeing colors in person. I thought the Crystallo would have been the color from looking on the internet but it was very creamy - beautiful but too creamy. It was the Avorio that ended up matching our BM White Dove walls perfectly. I ordered 2 colors just to be sure but Avorio was a clear winner. I will be playing with this for a couple more days I am sure to decide on the distress level.

Yes I cut the water amount as well and ran out so I have another can on order to finish the project.

Here are a few pics. I am waiting on my mantel and furniture and deciding what to do about putting builtins back on each side of fireplace. Or possible a chest and large mirror. I love this lime wash product. I painted the entire fireplace solid white which Ioved and had 5 days to distress before it sets and forms hard shell. It is very forgiving. I am good with it right now and later may go back solid white.

Thanks! I’m trying to decide whether to choose Avorio or Cristallo for my fireplace wall. The adjacent wall will be SW Agreeable Gray and trim is SW Alabaster. I think I’m leaning towards Avorio.

The Cristallo is yellow cream base. I liked it but it just did not go with my Dove White walls. If it is not next to a bright white it is probably not as noticeable.

Wow looks amazing! We use the same product and we love it. Ours is thick white but turned out well. Before and after photos below.

@uRockme (Z4b) Great job. Your fireplace is beautiful. This product is so forgiving. I did make a few different batches some thicker, some thinner to various depths. The product it self is very thick. I think they recommend a 50/50 ratio (lime wash to water) but I did not follow it exactly.

Here is the latest. A work in progress. I am waiting on the furniture to go on each side of the fireplace under mirrors and new sofas and rug. Added new custom mantel. Comparing this to the first photo I posted is quite a difference since tearing out the built-ins. You can see the beams I added in the mirror.
