Interesting, DG. I don't personally know anyone who grows it in S Fl, but it's naturalized in some areas in central and northern FL, so I would expect a cultivated variety to grow, too:

I had a purchased pot of alstromeria one year that surprised me by blooming the next year (and then died). Added that to my "nevermind!" list.
