One more comment on this, this area does seem to grow faster/thicker than the rest of my lawn, but it doesn’t “explode” in the spring like I’ve read about poa annua/triv. It just grows a bit faster than the rest.

Yup the stolons will be above ground. You will still have to dig up roots if you plan on excavating the triv. Stolons are the way they spread. The good bluegrass spreads through rhizomes underground so if you don't see any stolons then that's an indicator that it's not triv and it may be crappy Kbg or poa annua.

I went out and looked for stolons tonight. Now I’m not 100% sure what I’m looking for, but I did not see these stolon runners above ground.

Yup if you're seeing those runners, those are the stolons. KBG doesn't have those and that's how the triv spreads.

I did NOT see the runners, but I’m not 100% sure I know what I’m looking for or at. I will take pics when I get home.

Now I have been researching reno‘s and am half tempted to just nuke this garbage lawn and start over.

Oh jeez Im sorry I read that wrong. Nothing wrong with starting from new. I'm doing it right now with a portion of my yard.
