Is there a reason you're not putting it in the ground?

Yes. First and foremost, I have no more room and secondly, some varieties of honeysuckle can be pretty invasive so I don't want it too close to my other plants.

Also, with a pot I can put it right up against the chain link fence so no need for a trellis either.

It would be much happier and much lower maintenance in the ground. Is there no soil at the base of the chain link fence?

In a pot there is a good chance that it won’t survive the winter since it is only hardy to zone 5. Its woody structure would need to be removed from the fence to move it the pot to a warmer spot such as burying it in an empty bed or placing it in an attached garage, and that would mean basically pruning is quite hard. IME growing anything other than annuals in pots in cold climates is an exercise in frustration. I have a lot of dead plants in my past, hardy to zone 3, that I tried to grow in pots that weren’t protected in winter.
