This was the original floor in the home. It is beautiful! When the carpet was removed the planks appeared to be ebony in color. They turned out to be over 2" thick fir planks that are approx 14" wide, with a 2" wide white oak strip between each. The contractor made some replacement boards from an area in the foyer that became tile. Then he sanded the full floor and applied a hand blended stain on site to meld the two colors of board ( fir and oak) closer together. You can purchase reclaimed lumber and get this look. The species would typically be called " heart pine" that you are looking for.
