Those are beautiful, Kate, such a lovely color. I bought apricots today and they taste like....nothing. (sigh) I'm sure yours are much better.

Annie, these are Apriums... a cross between an Apricot and a Plum. Apriums are firmer, sweeter, and have a stronger flavor than any Apricot I’ve ever had.

Kate, I took a look at Apriums online...never heard of them before your post. They sound wonderful. And homegrown would make them even better. I'm glad your trip timing worked out for you this year.

Made the jam today using Pomona Pectin so I didn't have to use as much sugar. I was surprised to get: six pint jars; two 12 oz. jars; and two 8 oz. jars. I prefer using the 12 oz jars, but only had the pints as spares. I'm sure the pints won't last long once the Grands discover them.

I've seen apriums in the store, but have never had any, although I did see that Stark's has a tree for sale (which is out of stock until next year, of course), but it's only hardy beginning at Zone 6 and I'm in 5a, so probably not.
