Lovely sofa. Certainly not one I would call “transitional” though.

My question is why a 10' sofa? That's just way too long, and impractical. More than 3 people on a sofa is not conducive to conversation. How big is the room? Maybe you need more than one seating area.

Drdebt1234, yes it’s definitely modern! But a modern (not too artsy) or transitional sofa will work well in my space.

Diana Bier, the current sofa we have is 8’ and believe it or not it’s not long enough! This is for a long but narrow family room with tv. There are side chairs on each side of the sofa too.

I’ve had custom furniture made before, and I agree that it’s not necessarily more expensive, and it’s a great option.

I think it’s a much riskier undertaking with a sofa however. Subtle variations can make a huge difference in both looks and comfort. I think it’s fine if you see a sofa you can try out and examine and then just make it a bit longer or whatever. But cobbling together a custom sofa from, say pictures, is risky in my opinion.

I didn't cobble together a sofa from pictures. I went to the upholsterer and tried out different options in terms of the samples he had - height of seat; height of back; depth of seat; type of back; type of cushion and how many cushions.

Some manufacturers can customize length (I know Lee Industries can). So if you find a style you like they can make it longer - it will increase the price, but you'd know exactly what you're getting. I know that Lee does have some "extra long" sofas, though they are more in the 105" range. You may like their 1792 or 1299
