The door is cornered in small courtyard. I just finished clearing the landscaping it previously had and only left only two palm trees, everything else was terribly dead and eye sores. I like your suggestion. Thank you so much for your suggestions.

Will grey work with brown roof?

Hi....Yes it will, I wouldn't do another beige or brown tone to go with the roof. The door color would be more of
a standout in charcoal, almost the color of the sconce frame. Is there a way to do a trellis from left corner of roof to right roof, they look like there inline with each other???

I just found this combo and I really like it. Stone and house an off white, trim the color of your roof and this yummy blue/green for your door. Look like BM Palladian Blue.

Consider using concrete stain instead of paint for lower long term maintenance. It is made to be absorbed into the stone. Experiment in a small area to test for the right color.

custom home planning...i think I read that it was a faux stone??? I may be totally wrong and really have no idea what material faux stone is made of. So maybe regular paint would work???

It is probably a concrete or mortar type mix. The problem with paint is that moisture will be trapped underneath and it will probably peel sooner or later, and that would be a mess on such a rough surface. I would try the stain first too to lighten it up and make it look less fakey.

Hi, it looks like a concrete mortar mix.. I thought about removing it but it would a huge and costly job. Its rough to the touch but it lays flat.and even on the wall. from the side you can see its like a stone. The house is 35 years (not sure what they used back then). Serveral houses in area have this but probably not as much as mine. the painter was planning on spray painting it.

judyg I really like that house with the white stone, and green shutters. what color would I paint trim? Maybe this one looks nice with those wood doors. could I use shutters over the stone?

Matilda, I could do a trellis. The wall that covers the front door has a window (a guest room) looking into the small courtyard. I would know how to position trellis but sounds nice.

out to the that line. The trellis would give flowering vines a place to add color, and create a more distinct

No, The corner in front of the door ends half way to where the opposite corner starts. flowering vines would be beautiful. Maybe it can start in the front corner. It would probably be about 8 ' from the corner to front door

Hi...Well it wouldn't be the first time that a picture did that. If there is some way to make it work, I would definitely recommend it. A wood structure would compliment the gray, and make a beautiful backdrop
for flowers. If you can create a patio there with a few chairs, that would be charming.

most fax stone is concrete cast in the shape of the stone and can be stained. You could also just use spider lath wrap and a cement stucco to really change the look.

Gbas, you may certainly hang shutters over the stone! And we agree with judyg, green shutters would look great on this style home. We would suggest a board and batten shutters similar to what is pictured below.

my gosh, if you didn't paint the stone and just paint the trim, shutters, door and other siding the colors above it would look great and go with the stone color you have now!

I had my heart set on changing the look of the stone, however after seeing these images I'm have 2nd thoughts. maybe lighting the trim vs. the ugly brown will dramatically change the look. Recommendations for color of house? You don't see it but the entire sides of the house are note stone, its regular stucco brown. so if I just clean the stone, what colors should I use for house, trim, shutters and door?

Also I'll be adding fencing on the sides so what should I use?

Hi.....Your stone is faux, which doesn't have the same warmth as real, I still recommend painting.
