I was very excited to receive this package! I knew what would be arriving but there was a special surprise too! I know some of you yawn at species but I am always fascinated to see the origin of some of our named plants. Thank you P & W!

Back row left to right - clausa var. normalis, kikutii, rectifolia f. pruinosa

Front row left to right - Monashee Blue Cup (the special surprise), venusta and sieboldii 'Alba'.

I will keep claus var. normalis in a pot at least for a while as I have already given up a lot of real estate to clausa var. clausa. It was the only one to show a bit of displeasure to it's cross country trip. All the others seemed to enjoy their journey. Thanks again P & W.

For those who aren't familiar with 'Monashee Blue Cup' here's a larger specimen!

Glad to see them all in their new home, Laurie. Keep an eye on the venusta, it's a division from a specimen prone to sporting!

Pieter I am so glad you let everyone know it was you that sent them! I did not want to "out" you if you chose to remain anonymous. I have a perfect spot for venusta, I might even get it planted today. I remember your post about it and will keep my eye on it for sporting. I am scouting for a special spot for Monashee Blue Cup. It is a beauty! Thank you so much Pieter & Waita!

Here are the ones I received today from Laurie:

'Glad Rags', 'Woodland Elf', 'Jaws', 'Tickle Me Pink', 'Stuck in Time', 'Fashionista' and 'Lily Blue Eyes'. I'm looking forward to seeing them recover from their journey across the country!

Pieter so glad these little ones arrived! I had forgotten about the upcoming long weekend when I mailed them. I know they are in good hands now!

LOL djacob! Yes there is. A mutual love of Hosta and a lack of that pesky border that makes it easy for us Canadians to trade plants that neither has and both want. You cracked me up!

You bet somethin's goin' on here! And my wife of 45 years is damned annoyed at me getting yet more hostas! And never mind more hostas, but hostas from this stranger he met online!

Finally got everything planted except rectifolia f. pruinosa. As I mentioned at the beginning I will keep clausa var. normalis in a pot.
