There are something like 60+ shades of white, even more in paint. It would be surprising if you can get a perfect match. White paint yellows out over time, too, so the cabinets will stop matching at some point, even if you get it right. Also the base of the paint makes a difference in how it looks, once painted. Something about levels of titanium in the base paint, per an old painter and I've seen it happen in real life. Nice beige painted up pink.

Then, paint can pick up a color from someone's bedroom three houses down --- an old painter told me that once after a beautiful dove gray paint turned blue(!) when painted in the walls.

Seriously, don't lose sleep over this. Nobody will notice except you.

I see the different colors. My theory is the stacked W/D are picking up the wall color they stand next to.

On my screen it looks fine. It's rare you see cabinets painted "appliance white." They're usually just a bit softer. I agree with Cavimum...you're likely the only one to notice.

Looks like the light is hitting the dryer more, making it look lighter and the washer has a slight shadow. May not be that way in person but I don’t think anyone would notice that. It’s a very pretty set up you have there.

When I had my washer/dryer set up in my home, I was told by the installers that the machines were the "same" color but could look different depending on such variables as lighting, surrounding colors, etc. They made a big deal about that, repeating it several times, so apparently this color difference between appliances must be something that is brought up frequently by homeowners. I can't say I noticed any difference in my appliances but why are so many people noticing it in theirs?

You have created a great set up here, getting a lot of use out of your space. I would never have noticed the color difference. Sorry that you do. I know these things can be grating but if you can let it go, you'll have a fantastic laundry room to start enjoying!

Thanks chocolatesnap. Oddly enough I found them in my craft area and had purchased several years before at target. It was just a fluke they went with the rug.

Does it really matter ..it's a bloody washing machine and tumble dryer and who will see it !

The color on my one year old LG set is off as well. It is not the lighting. I have the top loader washer so they sit side by side. Bothers me, but I don't think my husband has noticed (yet).

Washers & dryers are typically produced in different factories. Units of the same brand and color choice may in some cases be a shade different due to paint supply variations and manufacturing facilities. As my dad would say, "Anyone who sees that [and is offended by it] is looking too closely." :-)

I just read a post regarding this issue. They complain to their appliance center and they sent someone out. He told the customer it was the lighting. The customer did not believe that. So he flip flopped the machines. The grayish white machine now looked really white, and the white machine now looked grayish. We learn something new every day.
