Clarifying question - were both the existing floor and the new floor all sanded down and refinished at the same time?

It is true that cherry flooring will darken over time. But, I would have thought that if it was all sanded down and refinished at the same time, they would match because the sanding would take everything down to new wood.

If only the new flooring was sanded and finished, then I understand the issue. The dilemma is that they have to stain it lighter than the existing so that as it darkens, it will then match up with the existing. If they match the existing to start with, the new floor would end up darker over time than the existing.

The new wood and old floors were sanded down at the same time. To my understanding they did not put a stain on it just two coats of a clear protectant/sealer.

The floors look like a match to me! I’m wondering if I should do the same?!
