Put the couch on window wall in the center of the window. The couches look to shoved together. Take the picture on the curio wall and hang it under the one on the other wall. You art work is very high. It that a TV hanging on the opposite wall? Yes you need to do throw pillows in a pattern with grey and red an maybe other colors and a red throw.

You will need a lamp for a new table or the existing table and a large rug to anchor the room.

I would not do a mirror over the sofa. It would only reflect the tv. Art is a great way to get color in the room so I would do two large pictures over the sofa.

Only hang a mirror when it reflects something beautiful. Don't hang the mirror if it only reflects a TV or blank wall. Small touches of a burnt red would tie the two spaces. Looks like you're going for a modern/transitional space. Might be nice to add a printed curtain from World Market or Pier One to add a more "traveled global vibe.

Yes, i didnt see they were portraits but hang them up and down not side by side on the same wall. When you move the pics center the cabinet on that small wall. I would do a linen drape in a color close to the wall because we are getting our color from rug, art, and pillows. Love the glass piece on the dining table.

I think that the sofa and love seat could be switched. If that doesn't work for you, move the sofa toward the dining room a bit. Each sofa should be a couple of inches from the wall or more from the window. End tables for these should not be any higher than the top of the arm. The one you have is too high, but a tall lamp would look modern. I really do not think you need to bring red into the living room, just because you have it in the dining room. Are you going to get an area rug?

Red accent wall behind the couch (thick baseboards in white would help set off the red)...pillows, artwork, curtains with red to repeat the color...red/grey would work well too in these elements. Or - if you feel the red wall would be too much, buy a big, long rectangular (horizontal orientation) piece of artwork with the red/grey theme ... again repeat with the other elements too. Rugs also work well to tie things in together!

I would find a rug with some grey in it. So the dining chairs are not bright red? Be sure the console is as wide or wider than your TV. Could you post your table from a different angle so we can see what's on the other side of it?

no the dining chairs are more of a darker shade of red, i'll post in the morning when i have better lighting, ill keep in mind the sizing of the tv console i guess since the tv is mounted a smaller console would look off i didnt think of that until you mentioned it thanks soooo much

If you go with that Surya rug, use plain drapes. Big art above the sofa.

I would do large colorful art over sofa and do the family wall in the dining room. The mirror is to big for the size of your table. Maybe put it in the bedroom as a full length mirror

yes it was originally in our bed room as a floor mirror but we upgraded to a mirrored panel do you suggest painting the walls if i do a solid color curtain , i wasnt planning on doing any paint in the living/ dining room

No I don't think you need to paint. You have dark furniture and a smaller space so I think you need some color and light elements If you do drapes the color of the walls it will look sophisticated and larger. Then you can have color in the rug and pillows.

What is that door in the dining room? Can you paint it the wall color? Are you planing a chandelier in the dining room?

Since the window in dining room is so small I would do a roman shade the color of the walls. You need to accessories the shelves in the dining room with some colorful art glass. Maybe art on wall where door is.

You mentioned your daughter takes good pictures and you like family pics. Would you consider replacing the shelving in the dining with a picture ledge like this? It gives you flexibility to move the pictures, update when you want without putting in more nail holes/hooks on the walls. Spacing the ledges well also gives you leeway to add art you like.

Love the rug you found.

Love the rug go for it. 8 x10. I would paint. Color on walls does nothing for yr furn. Go a owl gray by Benjamin Moore. All rooms the same all window covers the same. Go 2 shades darker than walls on end of windows only. Stainless rod. A light weight fabric, under them in living rom add a black bamboo shade. Home Depot has them. Just measure inside of your window easy to install. Add black and red print pillows to sofas. Big art over sofa bold colors hang 5-6" above top of sofa. Remove all other art. It's too small and too high. A round coffee table in black or glass 24-36" on shelves just a few items. Do not have to put pictures on all walls. Get things in then see what you need. So far so good. You are on the right track. Ck Ikea for lamps go very contemporary. The floor lamps you have and where they are are not working. A big tall lamp on corner table will fill space.get a silver base and black drum style shade. Bamboo or palms can fill empty space. Use large items for this purpose. Not a lot of small stuff. Ikea has them. Add to tall silver metal containers.

Grouping if pictures very hard to get right a large art piece would be better. Family pictures in a bedroom would work better.

Is that a TV on the wall? If so add a low dark wood media cabinet under it. In corner with curio is add a big palm silk to add texture to room. Maybe could put curio in a bedroom with family pic on it.

I'm sorry instead of low media put a taller 24-36" high chest long 5-6 ft under TV. Do something different like a red lacquered or turquoise . Don't be afraid to mix it up. Use different styles. It's fun. Add some tall ceramic pots to end.
