Not regretted, no, but here's my experience: My husband sleeps, as he puts it, "like a windmill", and it was he who bought the king bed as a gift to me. The one thing I didn't like about it was that it didn't encourage cuddling. That bed was destroyed in a flood. We now have a smaller bedroom, and hubby has declared that he is fine with the queen bed that we have. I had originally planned, knowing hubby's preference, for us to get a king with built-in bookshelves and underbed storage, but the queen seems to fit comfortably in the room, and hubby seems happy with it. So it's really a matter of what you and your spouse prefer and can agree upon.

Twenty-six plus years of marriage. We switched from queen to king sized probably a dozen years ago. It was really nice to have a larger bed, especially for me, I don’t like cuddling all night, I need my space to sleep. Plus, my hubby is a big, tall guy. Our first king bed had a thick pillow top... that bed was a mistake! We got the dreaded hump in the middle and it was REALLY difficult for me to put fresh sheets on because even the deepest pocket sheets were still a tight fit, and my hands are arthritic. I cursed that pillow top for many years, even though I didn’t want to go back to a queen sized. A couple of years ago we switched to a Purple mattress in the king sized. We LOVE it! I have no issues changing the sheets, the size is perfect, it sleeps cool, we both feel it supports us nicely... we hate having to go to hotels now and we are always wanting to get back to our own bed. LOL! (Hubby had researched that bed specifically because I was dealing with bursitis in my hips and he was dealing with his arms falling asleep at night, so he was looking for a solution to deal with these pressure points, it took us a bit to adjust... less than the 100 day trial though it felt a little like sleeping on jello at first... anyways, it totally cured those issues for both of us.)

We also got a purple king size bed 2 years ago and love it. We also got the purple sheets that are super stretchy and it’s very easy to make the bed. After 26 years of getting kicked in the middle of the night every night in the queen bed, now it’s like we are in different zip codes.

No regrets, ever...space for turning, sprawling, etc. You can cuddle...a regular king is 16 inches wider and those of us in the west with a California king know that it is only twelve inches wider than a queen. If an extra 6 or 8 inches per person keeps one from intimacy- well I think there may be other problems :)

I had never heard of the Purple bed, until now. We've been looking at latex but they are very expensive. I have lots of chemical sensitivities. any of you Purple users have problems with the smell?

There is no smell with the purple bed... or if there was one, it was very, very faint and went away quickly. My nose isn’t exactly the MOST sensitive, BUT I am sensitive to chemical smells. My hubby has a highly tuned sniffer... neither one of us noticed an odor when we unrolled our bed, and neither one of us has had any kind of an adverse reaction to it.

We got a Purple 1 bed a few days ago. The price was right for a queen, and hubby insisted on not having a king, so we got it--with me thinking it could end up in our guest room. It is so comfortable! I had the best sleep I've had in years--and it's cool, as in temperature, not trend. :) Hubby is not so happy with it, so there may be another opportunity for a king on the horizon. He thinks two feet on either side of the bed is too narrow in our bedroom, if we get a king. Any thoughts on that?

Glad you like the purple! For some people it takes more than a few nights adjustment. My hubby convinced his brother and sister in law to get a purple mattress... apparently they hated him for quite a few weeks and thought it was an awful mistake, but they tried to give it the full 100 nights to decide. Lo and behold, their bodies finally adjusted and now they absolutely love it. All I can think is that their bodies were so far out of whack (like alignment) from their old bed that they just had a lot of trouble adjusting to the purple. Now they love it though!
On the size of a king in the room... I’m not sure. I’ve seen two different minimum sized measurement suggestions, one was 24” and the other was 30” minimum... so my suggestion is to put some painters tape on the floor to tape out how wide the king sized would be and live with that, move around in the space, pretend you’re making the bed in that space... and see how that might work for you. (I thought I remembered seeing 18” as a minimum elsewhere as aisle width, I think that’s what I used to have in my girls’ old bedroom when I had two doubles in their room. It worked out just fine)

2 feet is pretty narrow and makes for awkward bed making. I store stuff in boxes under the bed so you’ll lose that option. Not sure how old you are, but my husband had hernia surgery x2 and I had to physically help him get in and out of bed for the few days after. Agree with the suggestion of taping out the dimensions of the bed. It will be your personal decision.

Thanks Skmom, I've done the tape on the floor thing, and it seems do-able, but bed-making and vacuuming would, for sure, be a little more difficult, especially as we age. Storage drawers under the bed may not work either. I would be happy with an extra width of even 6 or 8". Perhaps a cut-down foam bed would work. . . and a custom bed platform.... so no, that probably is not realistic. <sigh>
