Thanks ladies. Unfortunately these issues are not short-lIved. I have heart disease. But I do have two of the best cardiologists in the state on my side and they assure me I should be relatively ok after they outfit me with a pacemaker and do a couple other procedures. But they also said I have to face the fact that I have to cut down some of my gardening. No more mowing or spending 4-5 hours a day gardening. Not that I have to give up everything… just slow down a little.

Since my orchids and my flower bed are the most important parts for me I chose to cut out some of the other activities. The veggie garden has been really poor every year so It goes. Last year we planted 8 blueberry bushes which now also need a new home. Anyone want them?

So please consider giving a home to these plants.

I sometimes think it would be better just to go to the farmer's market than go through the trouble of veggie gardening here. I go to the farmer's market anyways, for some things. I can grow herbs well so I'm happy with that.

Same here. All my herbs grow well so will keep growing them.

Bea, I'm so sorry! And you just got over hubby's heart surgery, too. Well, even if I wasn't planning on moving to Mexico, I think I've created a monster with my gardens, so I'd be getting rid of most of it anyway. There just comes a time when you have to be happy with a few little things and not try to have every plant that exists.

I was going to give some of them to you, but I guess not. You just get well, o.k.? That's all that matters.

Bea, if its of any help, my husband is 87 and was diagnosed with A-fib in his 40's. They didn't have good methods to control it back then but they do now. His A-fib has been controlled with meds, he had a stent put in when he was 70. A year later they put in a pacemaker.

He's now 87, in pretty good shape, goes once a year for a battery check on the pace maker, he doesn't watch his diet (don't ask!) does pretty much what he wants. Is active, and I forget, as does he, that he has a pacemaker and stent. We're reminded when we go to the airport!

It only helped him for the better. His father died at age 72 from A-fib. They didn't have the medications they have now.

Medical advances in heart disease is just amazing and most people don't realize it. Be thankful you have good cardiologists and I really think when all is said and done, your life will not be terribly impacted by your diagnosis.
