That’s how I read his post too.

You have been through the gammet with this kitchen. What did the middle refacing cost vs the final product? What is the time line? Was the with your original kitchen and your final is their dream. Looking back was the middle worth the money and hassle? It's interesting how your taste/ style/wants changed over time. To me this is a perfect example of why when making such an expensive change to a home you are SURE this is your forever dream. Even if money isn't an issue the time and hassle of living in these transitions gives me pause anyway. Look how FAST HGTV changed our attitudes on what a kitchen COULD look like??!!!

Lasted about 10 years so that was well worth it. This permanent kitchen makeover was over $30 k, which is affordable now since we have no mortgage on the house anymore ! Espresso was in at that time. Now my tastes have changed

My own kitchen appears to be the about the same size and general layout (doorway/window placement), and I’m always looking for inspiration and ideas for a planned remodel. It would have never occurred to me to have an open counter/peninsula on the small wall; but, when I see it, I can imagine it offers a functional workspace for a second person (the biggest issue in my current kitchen) in addition to substantial space for entertainment layout.

Nope, you didn’t misunderstand; that’s exactly what he meant. He’s not familiar with punctuation, which is why ritasj thought it wasn’t the crude remark it actually was. Tony, if you’re reading this, here’s how punctuation (and spelling) works:

I appreciate that you not only came back to share the final pics but showed the intermediate step. I did a double take on the final, since it looked like the same cabinet doors in the refacing were in the final kitchen -- thought maybe they were painted -- but then I saw the layout changed too, so I don't expect you were able to reuse anything. But even tho you say your tastes changed, really it was just about the color & you stuck with the classic Shaker style. Yay!

I am original poster. I had to sign in through FB to post correctly ( strange). No wall was taken down @Sammy cabinets made by Kitchen Craft . Natural stone ( quartzite). Waiting for dining table/chairs to arrive for empty dining room. Small wall divides living room #1 from kitchen area. Currently working on redecorating living room now.

@Marissa kitchen is approx. 15 x 16 feet

@Sammy the quartzite was called “ Cinderella”, same as granite I was told.
