Prosthechea Green Hornet Spike from Center?

I have had this Prosthechea Green Hornet for well over a decade, when it was called Encyclia.


Today I saw something like a flower spike from the centre of a mature growth. Is it possible? Have you seen anything like that?


The plant has started multiple new growths and is healthy.

    Encyclia types spike from the top like Cattleya, Oncidium types spike from the side.
