Decor advice please!

Does this coffee table go well with the couch and rug? I'm not sure if it matches with the rest of the house or looks outdated.

I think it's really nice and your house is really nice too. In the living room where you have it, you do need other stuff to tie things together ("stuff " on th coffee table, lamps, pillows etc). I think it works!

I would spray paint it a charcoal grey to tie in with your kitchen cabinets.

I think a table that size and shape will not serve any practical purpose...no one can reach it ...a longer rectangle can serve more people ...and if it is more solid..you can even put your feet up...

Agree, much too small and “wimpy”. Love your house! I’d do a rectangular or even a larger circular table, but larger and solid, maybe a marble look.

I think that a rectangle coffee table that matches your kitchen cabinets would look great. If you add a floor lamp in the corner, and pillows that tie into the colors of your rug, it would look great.

That would match the lighting in your kitchen

I would use larger coffee table. The wood one takes space more casual and gold and glass more formal.

Looks like a square would fit too...but I think matching anything would be a mistake...that spot is perfect for a show stopper...a focal point .....as everything else is more understated

Guidelines for sizing coffee table that might help. Measure 18” from the front edge of each chair or sofa. Use painter blue tape and mark corners of that space. That is maximum size for a coffee table. Every seat should be able to reach a place to set down a beverage or book/device. I love doing large square coffee tables and you possibly have just the spot. Post measurements and I can help see what size would be best.

Leana Giannios - the couches are actually from a custom furniture company called Living Designs in Houston. It is similar to a much more expensive version from Restoration Hardware. I made minimal changes like reducing the width of the armrests and lowering the height.

Flo Mangan - I found a much larger coffee table that measures 55 inches x 30 inches. I have included the link and a picture. It is a wood top with a brass/gold base. My dining table is a grayish wood so I'm not sure if a wood coffee table would be overkill. i have also included a picture of the dining table.

Please let me know what you think. I measured the living room space and this particular table would fit really well. Thank you so much!!

Very cool coffee table at a very reasonable price. I think you can mix woods so great option IF size works. Place boxes the size of the table and rough height to text out and see if that much volume will work.

The glass table is too small for the seating area. . bigger size? I like that the shape and color echoes other objects in the room.-( pendant lights, intricate lines in the rug, curved arms of the arm chairs) I like that it doesn't hide the rug. It could work in your room, if it wasn't so small. IMO, you have enough blocky & heaviness to the room. The room needs a counter balance.

Your couch measurement will dictate whether this works...it shouldn’t be longer than the couch plus the space needed to separate it from the couch...I like that it adds an organic element ...but since your seating seems to be equal on both sides...a square table would serve more people comfortably..

Flo Mangan - the sectional is 67 inches on each side from the armrest to the inside corner. From what I have read, coffee tables. for an L-shaped sectional should be 1/2 or 3/4 of the length of each side..

Would a 36 × 36 square table work? Or should I look for a table that would accommodate the arm chairs as well?

    Agree with DK.

I really like the table you have but it’s a tad small. Think it would be better doubled in size. Even being a tad small it’s not horrible by any means.

I like that the brass repeats. I like that it’s not heavy. I like the shape. I think it helps break up all the squares and softens if that makes sense. I like that you can see the rug through it.

    Pretty rug too.

I don’t think you asked anywhere but I’d add some pillows and a throw with the warmer colors of the rug to bounce and repeat the color around.

I will sketch these dimensions out and give you recommendation on size of coffee table. Bbl

Here is scale sketch. Each square is equal to one square foot. Ideally, a 4’ x 4’ square glass top table would be great and big wow factor i. Your room. You need 18” from coffee table edge to edge of seats. Here are some options. I wasn’t sure of location of your chairs but two will work in the arrangement nicely. No table required then between chairs. You could do 40” square but that creates need to cozy up grouping which might not be best.

I have had frames made by my local metal shop and finished in aged gold then purchased glass top. This table was 5’x5’ and looked amazing. Beautiful. I can hunt some more but i need your feedback on what appeals to you most.

Flo Mangan - thank you so much much all of your help! How much do you think it would cost for a metal shop to fabricate a 40x40 brass/gold frame. my ideal coffee table would be a modern square table with a glass top. Similar in style to the round glass table I originally posted.

I honestly do not want to spend over $500 since I have young kids.

The coffee table is too small for the space. You have a very pretty rug so a glass coffee table top will work well, but you need a large square or rectangle. I also would prefer a more substantial ( thicker metal or wood) frame. People sitting on the sofa, should be able to comfortably reach the coffee table from their seated position. Your sofas look great, and some throw pillows picking up some of the color in the rug will really help tie the room together. The Salmon color would be beautiful with the grey sofas and also very pretty with the cabinets in your kitchen. It is a lovely room!

It will be hard to get size you need with glass top for $500 or less. Might want to look in your local craiglist or nextdoor. Might pick up bargain that way. Be patient and get right piece. It will make your room.

Here is idea. Slightly over budget but could work beautifully! Two 48” long by 24” wide pushed together to make 48” square!! Good way to stretch budget for great look. Sides os this style should allow butting them up side by side.

Wow that is a great idea to use 2- and get the size you want but sill have some flexibility. That is an attractive one too the gold stainiless steel
