I would add a little drum shade entry light..for a clean easy style perfect for a transitional room. With your low ceilings a flush mount is best..

My preference would be for a recessed light. I would not want any kind of statement light which would draw attention to the low ceiling.

Thanks, y'all. I'm only 5'1" and I forget that someone 6' tall might actually bump into something hanging there. The current light is less than thrilling but is fairly innocuous. Maybe I'll do a simple flush mount drum to keep it out of the way.

I like this one, and I doubt it's long enough for the tallest person to hit his head. The negative, of course, is that "closed at the bottom" styles collect bugs in the glass /must be cleaned out occasionally.

This one's nice and basic and absolutely a good choice for low ceilings. It too will "collect bugs", but they won't be as visible.

I like this one ... but ONLY if you have some other black in the room ... it can't be the only black item.

Moravian star lights are taste-specific, but I like them! Again, I'd do this ONLY if you have another star somewhere else in the vicinity. This on-the-ceiling option would work at the entry ... the other, depending upon its placement, could be on a drop.

This doesn't look like an entry light to me ... plus, I am not a fan of Edison bulbs. More expensive, shorter lifespan, and one of these days they're not going to be available. I'm also not loving the copper for this placement.

The entryway is one shade of blue--kind of a periwinkle--and the living room is kind of a royal blue. But we did use lavender and deep purple paint colors in the dining room, which you can see from the living room.

Our current light looks something like this, but I think the mounting part might be oil-rubbed bronze. Boring.

With your lower ceilings a flush mount is a must...a semi flush will hang to low...if going by the regular suggested standard..a light should be at 7’ no lower.......so that gives you 5” to work with almost impossible..but will check to see what I can find.
