Hi Coreen, I was able to track down our customer from back in 2008 and he said that the wood was cumaru. He also shared that in the New Mexico sun the wood tended to splinter a bit even after a couple of attempts to re-sand and even buff the wood. Cumaru is an alternative to Ipe wood which may be a more stable option.
