alex summers had one called patrioits fire.. which i happened to plant right next to a banyai plant.. which is the next brain cell i need to fix ... i can picture where they were ...

also.. moonlight is out of gold standard .. and there might be many progeny of that one that might fit ..

Hi again Ken——While it seems this hosta could be either of the ones you mentioned, looking in the database, Both of those hostas are much bigger than what my NOID appears to be. It really has not grown in size. It’s about 12” round. Maybe time will tell. In my opinion, it looks more like Patriots Fire. Moonlight seems to have more dimpling than my NOID. I will continue monitoring it.....

Ken and Steve thanks for chiming in. My NOID could be either of those plants, except the database says these are med large hostas ,whereas mine is rather small, right now. 10 around, leaf about 4x2. Now this may only be second year in the sun. It was a green hosta with a tiny white border In deep shade Before. It has that parchment color like Gold Standard does on a couple of leaves 3 and 9 o’clock.

Maybe it's a runt. My Rainforest Sunrise did literally nothing for 4 years before 2018.

pretty sure i even showed bruce banyai in person .. and he suggested that pauline and alex traded plants ... so there was a possiblity on my theory ... but there is no way to confirm that ...

your plant.. for whatever reason.. is NOT performing well ... so though the size observation is correct.. its hard to put too much stock into it ... as don notes.. some just linger as runts.. seemingly never taking the leap year seriously ...

bruce would tell you to dig it up.. beat the soil off on a tree ... scrape the roots on a sidewalk ... and replant ... its a derivation on my theme of throwing it on the driveway for the afternoon.. teach it who is boss ... and then replant ... it is thought that the survival instinct triggers a hormone release.. and maybe the thing will get its act together ...

Well, Ken and Steve, I was thinking that there was no difference between the two plants as I kept looking at the 2 of them, so it comes as no surprise that they may actually be the same plant. Now the part about beating it up to show it whose boss——is this a little tongue in cheek joke for me or is there some truth to all of that??? Also, I don’t think it’s Rainforest Sunrise, tho that is a beautiful plant. And what is GRHS?

ademink, I think of the three or two plants being discussed, given that Patriots Fire and Moonlight COULD be the same plant per Ken, I think my NOID could actually be Fire Opal. I will pay more attention to it next spring as it begins to grow to see how the colors develop. I may have to dig it up and replant with some better soil as well. Not sure if Ken is serious about the whole beating it up so the hormone kicks in the plant goes into survival mode and grows.... really???

Djacob, sorry, wasn't suggesting that it might be Rainforest Sunrise (it certainly isn't), just mentioned it because it is the example of the "runt" in my garden : )
