I've seen David Weekly custom homes in my area of SW Florida and too many things are cheap versions that are just basic code. Such as the windows.

Dang, that is unfortunate. We are building one with them. From a construction perspective, I think they are doing well. They are well reputed builders as such. Most people I've talked to has nothing but good things to say about them. But our experience is kind of less than ideal but it is mostly process related challenges nothing yet with construction.

Every mass builder is using cheap windows, but in Indiana, were I observed, their practices are horrific. They did the same with windows cutting WBR flash. I believe this is 700k house.

Charles Ross Homeslol. you are not wrong. From an initial model they can definitely move the walls left and right for sure. And for the most part that is all we wanted for our first home. They were honest about what they can do and what they cannot. They gave us a design we were satisfied with. But executions seems like a huge challenge with them.

As an example, happened to hear from city that electricians crossed the wires in the meter box and the meter was running reverse for the last few months. City caught it 10 days ago, they removed the meter and work is shutdown since then.

What is the issue? Instead of them paying electrical company ... electrical company pays David Weekly. Checking my wires right now. Honestly how is this even possible, since it is the electrical company that installs the meter.

lol. I am going to talk to my builder and find out more later this week. Meanwhile, this is what city told me. I was also under the impression that city installs the temp pole and the meter. But I am a bit in the dark here. I don't think city would have removed the meter and disconnected power, if it was their mistake and also ask for inspection to re-install it.

That doesn't make it a custom home. It makes it a tract home that has had modifications made.

I always provided temporary post setup including meter panel, grounding etc per spec and paid the fee and the electrical company did the rest and supplied a meter [and tested the setup].... So if a smart meter spins in the wrong direction.... [ not sure even how ] ... would never be my fault. I do like the idea.... just feel that this is an urban legend.

@millworkman: I see what you mean. They gave us a design we liked that also fit our lot and trees around it. so we are ok with the sort of customization DWH offered to us.

I’m guessing the electrician walked and took his temp pole with him and the builder/GC is scrambling for a new one. In the meantime they made up some ridiculous story.
