Yes...worry about water seepage. Please check the slope of your porch. It should have a lovely pitch that causes water to pour/move AWAY from the home. If it doesn't, you are in for a big repair bill in a few months/years because the water will have entered into the home via the wood threshold.

As for tripping on the way out, your high-end wood flooring installer will source/create a large sloped transition strip (think 4-6" wide) that will reduce the height variance. Of course the best course of action would be to raise the subfloor UP...but that isn't always possible.

But before we all go crazy, please check the slope on that step outside. If it does NOT slope away from the home, you need a redo.

And then check local building codes. The height variance through an entrance door way should be double checked.

Thank you SJ for the super helpful comment. I checked the exterior landing and it’s sloped outwards. The contractor is installing the strip to avoid tripping. I think we’re in good shape (for now until the next challenge;)
