Cindy, hi. What I would do is simple panels on either side of the windows next to bed. You could also do one larger panel on each window and tie back. On the curved window I would also do two simple panels on each END of the wall of windows. Treat it as one big window. You could spend the money on a curved rod or get two short rods and hang above both windows on the end. Make sense?

What kind of budget do you want to work with? I am not a fan at all of cutting off that arch with those faux blinds as they are now. I assume you need the privacy. Have you considered shutters? I'd love to see you build a window seat in front of the arched windows, and add shutters. Put a cozy cushions and plump pillows on the window seat. If no window seat, do curtain panels between each window installed on a curved wrought iron rod installed up high. Same to frame the bed windows--you could probably do one panel on each outer side by the bed--rod all the way across the window.

Makes complete sense. I was thinking the short rods too but wanted input. Would you do a khaki color curtain or is that too much khaki? I'd love to spruce up the room with color too but we just aren't that bold. I have a new duvet on the way from Pottery Barn in hopes of adding to our boring room. Hello! You could also do TDBU (Top Down, Bottom Up) Roman Shades on the rectangular part of the window and leave the curved part open. That way, you have more control over how much light you let in and whether or not you can/want to see out. Hope that helps. Good luck!

I hear ya JMittman Designs!! I can't stand the arches being cut. It's more for keeping the light out first thing in the am and the hot afternoon sun. Plus they were there when we bought the house. We put gorgeous shutters on all of our windows in the front of the home (including our huge arched windows) about 2 years ago. I think my DH would enjoy NOT investing too much more money into the home. (custom arch shutters tend to put a bigger dent in the pocket book!) They are our fav though! And the built in bench would be perfect for that arched space. I think that's more do-able. Hmmm ....

I like the idea of the curtain panels on the curved wrought iron. Where would she get the curved wrought iron curtain hardware? I am thinking of using in my room too.

How deep is the curve? Can you use a straight rod? If you need curved, you'd have to get it custom.

oooh, Liza, a gal after my heart! Love Helser Brothers! :) Cindy do you have a local wrought iron place? I buy my wrought iron through a local place that sells wrought iron fencing and other showroom items--check around, you may not know that one near you may make wrought iron curtain rods. Quality is SOOO much nicer than the adjustable ones you find at Target etc. Medallions would be another option, though not my favorite. I also don't care as much for the short rods. And by the time you'd purchase all the individual finials for all those short rods, you'd spend more than getting one curved rod with 2 end finials.
All three of those fabrics are from Stout Textiles, available to the trade. I am SURE you would have better pricing on fabric.com. That bottom pieced is embroidered and is GORGEOUS, but also pricey, and you are going to need near 30 yards for this job.

great taste JMittman Designs! I like the wrought iron idea. I think we do have one nearby. I like the medallion idea on some windows, but it has to be perfect or I think it looks cheesy. I'd rather keep it bare than do cheesy. So no wood in the master bedroom, or just for price purposes, wrought iron? And is the wrought iron style like the Pottery Barn Essentials Drape Rod? That looks super easy to have made.

I'd work with a local window covering expert and really talk with them about your wants and needs. Romans Shades can be a great look for curved windows but they can also get pricey real quick, depending on the fabric. But if you are working with a good retailer who listens, they will give you good, better and best options and let you pick what suits your needs. Drapes on a curtain rod are also a great option but once again, fabric will dictate cost and since you mentioned what you spend on shutter before, it might not be the best option. Finally, consider how long you will be in the house. If you don't plan to be there too much longer, spending money on roman shades that the new homeowner might not like will also play into the type of fabric you choose.

Best wishes....my final thought is: Don't go this alone. Spend time finding a great window covering retailer. It will save you time, money and regret.

Wood or wrought iron is fine. I just prefer wrought iron. I hope you can find a local fabricator for your wrought iron. It really is sooo much nicer than PB stuff--but yes, that type of rod. Though I would get like an inch diameter rod.
The arch windows are pretty narrow, wondering if you could get a quote for arched blinds there? See if you can get the same style, so you don't need to replace the ones by the bed. I think having those blinds done correctly will enhance your room tremendously.

Cindy - did you ever make a decision on your curtains? I too have the Cynthia Palampore duvet and am trying to figure out a wall color and curtain fabric. I'm curious to see if you found something that you love to go with it!
