DG, if your dollar store sells butane, look into getting a butane single burner. They're much easier to find fuel for if your area is out of power for an extended time. Most people have propane, so propane goes fastest.

I have some old O2Cool fans that do a very nice job, but honestly if I were buying new ones these days I'd just get the smaller vornado types that you can get everywhere. They put out a pretty good breeze and you can carry them around with you.

BTW, the pocket flashlights from the dollar store put out as much light as my mini maglight does. I'd also get a lantern-type light if you don't have one. It's nice to have ambient light, too.

writersblock - I might end up getting a smaller, less expensive fan depending on how much money I have to spend. I just need something blowing on me to keep my head cool, at least.

I looked at Vornados, but every one I saw was plug in. The Ryobi is pretty much the same thing, it's made to circulate air on job sites, but it's battery operated. I saw a couple that were battery and AC, so that would be best for me.

I wish I had the money to set up my solar panel. That would keep me going for a few days.

Sorry I wasn’t,t clear. I didn't mean an actual vornado brand one, , but something in the same smaller, deeper style. CVS, BBB, etc all have them.

Hopefully we won't have a bad season but that's not what is predicted.

cpartist - they always predict doom and gloom, and it hardly ever comes true. In 2004, they predicted a mild hurricane season, and were made to look like fools. I think since then, they just go a bit overboard to cover their butts.
