how can I hang curtains?

How can I hang curtains for the windows in my living room? As you can see, they’re set in a box bay window like with no space between window and top of box. Its a large window space about 11 ft. I wonder if I can put curtain rod brackets in gap between window and wall though I probably need one or two more in the middle on the window frame. I’d like to put the sofa in this spaceas well.

I'd use blinds instead of curtains. One other thought is to create a valance and hang the curtains underneath it, stacked on the sides - but you'll lose a lot of visible window if you do so.

How much space (side to side) will be covered when you put the sofa in the space? If possible, I would locate the sofa in another location, or pull out from the window a bit.
