Should you only propagate a tomato sucker?

I have a tomato plant i really love that i want to propagate and from online sources, it seems suckers are mostly used , or at least mentioned, for propagation. Is it best to only propagate from suckers or is any other part of the tomato plant going to produce and equivalent?

Suckers root more easily. Otherwise, no difference.

is the cutting(from the sucker or not) always the same exact age as the plant? i have an older tomato plant that i love but i think its on its way out due to age and if the cutting i took from it would be the same age then i think i'll just try to start from the seed instead...

What does plant age have to do with anything? You're taking plant cells from a plant and asking them to reproduce. BTW, tomatoes are perennials. You can keep them going basically forever.
