You do not need a bookcase system. You can use any type of cabinet or table to hold the TV. That makes any future rearrangement easier.

I am confused as to how a brass and glass cabinet cover up the television when not in use.

I also opted to put my television behind closed doors because I don't generally watch television in the formal living area. But my cabinet is wood.

My cabinet doubles as a room divider between living room and office/den so its solidity works well. However, when I was looking at possible solutions I liked the furniture which had a television lift so that the television is lowered when not in use and the cabinet just looks like a nice piece of furniture.

There are also some models of televisions which look like framed art when not being used to view programming. You can select the art you want to show or use your own art or rotate through a changing gallery. The screen saver for my Apple TV device uses artwork - I don't actively want the artwork since I would generally turn off the television if not in use for awhile but assuming I actually curated what was being shown it is different than the standard black screen.
