We live in rural South Dakota on a couple of acres. We are considering adding a rental efficiency either in a detached garage or building another garage bay and adding a second-floor addition on top of the 3 garage bays and the existing small house. The house is a walkout to a lovely brick and natural stoned patio. The footprint of the house will not change. The square footage on the main floor is 1,050. Walkout floor 950. We don't necessarily need more space,

but the slope of the roofline is boring and tired. We will travel in the winter and would like someone living on our property while we are down south in the winter.
