How small does it have to be?

My previous response seems to have disappeared 18x14x14

I appreciate any thoughts. I am sorry. I’ve tried to edit. the body of the canister is about 18x14x14. I live in a nyc apartment. There really is no room to spare. I’m pretty good at trying to maximize/organize space. I think I have reached my limit.

Isn't Electrolux offering something else about the same size as as your old "Green" model? If not, you might want to check out the Miele C2 compact model. Expensive but very solid and even smaller than your dearly departed Electrolux. The dimensions of the canister on the C2 that I bought four years ago are roughly 17" x 10" x 10." I think the current versions are the same.

How much do you want to spend?

Does the vacuum require a rotating brush in the wand for carpet cleaning?

Prolux Tritan canister would be a good replacement IMO

Second the Miele C2.

We have a Dyson upright vacuum that we bought years ago. But we find that we use it very rarely. Instead, we also have several Dyson hand-held vacuums spread across the house. And those get used multiple times a day. They are super convenient, the canister has a decent capacity, it's easy to empty, and with the newer model (e.g. the V11), you get pretty good battery life and super strong power.

Dyson does offer a substantial discount, if you already own other Dyson products. This discount is generally better than the best sale that I have been able to find online. But of course, it never hurts to check on camelcamelcamel.com, when buying more expensive consumer items. Also, if you order directly from Dyson, they'll give you a handful of extra attachments for free.

With so many attachments, spend $10 and buy an after-market attachment garage from Amazon. Makes it much easier to stay organized.

If you prefer staying with Miele (and nothing wrong with that), they just introduced a handheld vacuum at IFA, if I remember correctly. But I am not sure whether it is expected to be sold in the US. You might want to give them a call.

My Prolux allows me to dial the suction up or down for wall to wall or throw rugs. On my tile floor, if I don't dial the suction down, the floor tool can be stuck directly to the tile because of the strong suction. I purchased mine from Overstock, but I see they have them on Amazon also.

Note that the Prolux Tritan's so-called "turbo head" floor attachment does not have an electric motor to spin the brush roller.

I know you found the vacuum you were looking for, but I have to praise Riccar. I bought a Riccar vacuum about six years ago and it is just wonderful! If anything happens to this one, I will be buying another Riccar.

This Tritan is super strong. We have mostly hard floor and always dial down the suction or we would not be able to move it The way The tubes connect bothers me a tiny bit in that they don’t click and lock, but so far we’ve done fine just pushing them on firmly.

Years ago I was given a roomba too. I love it but only use it to touch up. I do the major vacuuming with the Tritan.
