@sueb20 RE "I've seen that fabric before". That is a problem I have with the fabric. I saw it at Ethan Allen in August, fell in love with it, then in September I get a Ballard Design catalog and it is all over the place in the catalog. Now I am having second thoughts about using it.

I agree w Eld. Because we are all *so* into decor, we notice things no one else will.

LOL Eld6161 and Mtn, you are right, I am probably being silly, but it was very annoying to spend a chunk of time going through fabrics to find one DH and I both agreed to, only to have the very fabric my quest unearthed show up in my mailbox a few weeks later. No one in my circle will notice, but I will know. Maybe I can't love it as much any longer because it is no longer my special find. Today I will play with fabrics and assess.

Wow! I love it. I always love houses that are surrounded by trees. You can see the sun dancing across the house as it is filtered through the trees. Your kitchen is bright and I adore your colors. The beams are beautiful! Can't wait to see more photos!

Really nice kitchen. I wouldn’t want to cover too much of the trees but maybe Romans shades on the windows. Do you need privacy there? I’d be tempted to leave them bare.

I like the fabrics and the idea of florals for the chairs. Are you going to use orange as an accent in the living room? I’d maybe look at rugs first before final selecting fabrics.

I've loved everything you've been sharing and now even more - and that light had me at the first hello. Re the fabric I totally get your disappointment that it seems somehow less of YOUR find and fear it will be snapped up by 'the masses' by way of Ballard. It would make me pause too, but in the end eld is right, you won't be seeing it in every home you visit and it's highly unlikely your guests will remember it from a catalog - if they even peruse catalogs/online the way most of us here do. Finding things that hit all the high notes and please both partners is hard enough! Use it and just stay out of Ballard catalogs for 18 months or so - problem solved!

I have/had a sample of that fabric and it is very pretty. You may see it in Ballards catalog but it is a custom fabric, so I really doubt you will see it out and about. I never have. As for your windows, if it's private I would only do roman shades, probably some type woven vs fabric. Love your beams! Glad you are loving your new place.

Everything is gorgeous!! Absolutely adore your backsplash and vintage light. The beams, the floor (what is it? haven't read all the comments, apologies if I missed it.), the cabinets, the fabrics, the windows...you have great taste. Enjoy!

I'm not sold on the floral fabric, I really like the other one because it pulls all your colours together in such a subtle way that it doesn't pull away from the vintage light or the backsplash but rather enhances them. It also pulls the colours of the trees.

Does the floral come with a different background.

Your home is gorgeous and you will make it special for you and your family, no matter which fabric you choose.

I don't think that fabric has the oomph it needs to work with your other beautiful, bold and bright choices, and I agree that if it's in Ballard Designs today, next week it, or a close cousin, will be at a big box home department near you.

I almost love the fabric, but I think you might do better looking a little more. Even something with a touch of coral with green might work, unless you plan to use coral pillows instead. I might wait on the final decision for the chairs until you choose the rug and sofa. If you still love the floral, then go for it.

I have that same light, local. In fact, I have two of them. One was over my kitchen sink, the other was at the top of the stairs to the basement.

The house was built in 1968. In 1994 we bought the house from the original owner who told us the fixtures were in the house when they bought it.

we have no window coverings at all on the back of the house, which, like yours, faces the woods.
