Started the "Ring of Hosta"

Ok, it's only 3 hosta but it is the start of hosta around the backyard! Left to right Great Arrival, Blue Hawaii, and St. Elmos Fire. Around the tree is City Lights.

The "Big Picture," Is this what you think of when you think of Kansas??

n2-have you moved? are you starting a new garden?

BTW - I live in Kansas, and I know what it looks like... when we moved here from Virginia, my friends there were worried... they thought I was moving to the wilderness. LOL. It's beautiful! The KC area is lush and green, as is much of the state... and the prairie (what's left of it) in the Flint Hills is amazing. So glad I live here... for so many reasons!

I moved last thanksgiving about 1/2 a mile from my old house. There are many gardens in my mind. I added Wu la la and Sum and Substance to the front yard (way apart, there is a driveway between them and more!) More hosta in the side-yard, my mother-in-law had some planted there but it is deep shade. I started a hosta garden in a large niche in the backyard. I started another hosta garden at a opening to the woods under a native black cherry tree. And Now the ring of hosta begins!

All that sounds great but I am fighting voles, English ivy, invasive honeysuckle, weed trees and my miserly spirit vs my hosta love. But life is grand and I am having fun!

No there is a woody area with a creek about 20-30 feet then a golf course, I plan to plant lilac, dogwood,etc. to replace some of the bush honeysuckle and poison ivy. I picked up two lilac on sale,

I have a call in for staking for underground utilities. And any day I am expecting my new shovel the ROOT SLAYER!

My house may not get cleaned this week, this chiok will be out digging!

n2hostas--------omg, you will love your root slayer! I picked up mine after a post and also got the recommended stainless steel spade.........that is also awesome!
