Please help me decide if I should go with neutral drapes in the white family or colored drapes for these two living room windows please.

I'd go neutral for sure. Lovely looking room!

I'd go neutral, but I'm not sure drapes would really work with your sofa placement.

Sina I’ve heard this once before about the sofa. What could be my options then? Leave the windows bare and as is?

Either leave the windows as is or add something like Roman shades. IMO the sectional is too big and bulky for the size of the room, so adding something like drapes would only exacerbate that issue rather than pull the room together.

I would agree with you. It kills me to think I’ve painted around this sofa, picked a rug around this sofa to now realize it’s just a nightmare to work around the size, color and everything about it. So would you suggest something smaller and lighter?

You can work with your sectional as is. It may be a bit oversized for the room, but it looks comfortable. If you want to add drapes, you'll need to pull the sectional into the room far enough that you have 5" - 6" between the backs of the sectional and the walls. You will have a bit of a pinch point into the next room, but you can help remedy that by replacing the end table with a floor lamp. I would consider having the drapes stack into the corner between the windows rather than opening in the center of each window. Also, I would run one of the rods almost all the way into the corner so you don't have a blank wall in that corner.

On the other hand, the suggestion for simple roman shades with an outside mount is another good approach and would allow you to leave the sectional in its current position.

Only have a min. but wanted to say you can add curtains there even with the sectional in front. Curtains would add additional interest/color even if neutral/and texture.

Can I just say that I love your round mirror? Where is it from?

Fb2bhere, thank you! I wish I could follow your thought process. I’m assuming I would be moving the sectional to the left closer to the kitchen opening? Remove the table and replace with a floor lamp. Wouldn’t that create too much dead space in the front window?

Plain ivory-ish linen in a color analogous to your pillows and the background of your rug:

Your room is very nice. I would do a neutral drape as well. Have you looked at Half Price Drapes online? They have very nice drapes at reasonable prices.

Groveraxle and everyone Thank you. Ok so I was thinking these drapes and was hoping to bring in some color that I can blend into the kitchen which needs new curtains as well. Still suggest white for the living room?

    Don't see an image ??

There are two double hung windows to the left and right and the one single window just entering the kitchen from the living room shown below.

@recordaras I got the mirror from Ballard design.

In order to have room for draperies, you need to move the sectional away from both windows, both towards the kitchen and towards the stairway. In other words, you will need approximately 5 inches between the wall and any part of the sectional's back. That's the minimum depth that the folds in draperies would be.

I love a room where you can put your feet up and relax, but that black ottoman is a black hole in the room. Some options.

How about a green ottoman with legs to open the room up a bit and complement your green pillow?

The brown table might be too brown for my likings and love the teal ottoman but think it’s competing too much with the sofa color:(. I will
    Look for something neutral
In color with legs. I also think white panels would be best to keep the room bright.

Love this coffee table for my room. What are your thoughts on color and style? Also would love to find one where I don’t have to pay additional $300 for shipping.

Beverlyfladeziner, can you send the link for the coffee table you suggested?

That coffee table is blah. And IMO the one Beverly suggested is blah also. It goes with the rug but not the sectional color. Now you are headed towards to many shades of brown. Grover's green one gives the room some needed life

Good suggestions! I’ll try to do some shopping in store as it’s challenging matching colors online and will look for a pop of color in an ottoman

Gordon’s window - that is spot on the look I would love!!!

Roman shades would not be something I would consider after installing silhouettes. I did move the furniture 6in off the wall but it didn’t seem to change enough of the sofa placement sadly. With that said, I can leave the windows as is but feel the room needs help. I am in the process of finding a new ottoman but would love to find the right treatments that will bring in more to this room.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>I like the teal ottoman a lot, but it isn’t my house.

Where is a good place to buy the type of shades in the pictures above? Anyone?

    last modified: 7 years ago

The shades are custom. I suppose you can order them from Gordon or anyone that makes custom shades.

Groveraxle I love the wicker looking ottoman but looks small for the area.

Plan? No not yet but desperately want a change. Any suggestions?l

I would also want to keep the hardware if that is at all possible to make for easy change out of the kitchen curtains.

I'm completely opposite of what everyone is saying. I like the room, the sofa looks so comfortable. I'd go with bamboo shades in a color that closely matches the wall.

Tara, I actually just installed the Silouettes in the living room so those are staying as is. I was now looking for more help with going with a new ottoman and drapes. Thank you for the comfy couch compliment. It IS comfy!

If you add the navy ottoman, I would add one or two other blue things to the room.

Your so great! It’s not working for me! Looks way too Bright imo. :(

Also thinking no drapes for now. It’s been too challenging to come up with living room drapes, kitchen curtains, lighting updates and an ottoman:). I am thinking of keeping the ottoman on the lighter side too. Would the wicker style suggested above ottoman work?

Style and colorwise, the wicker coffee table will work. But check the size. It may be too small.

I do like it a lot. Size is 33 in and the ottoman I currently have is 45 so probably too small.
