From the reviews I've read, the high heat from self cleaning can often fry the electronic mechanisms. I thought it was not a feature worth using over time since none of the appliances now last for very long.

Instead of using the self-cleaning feature, I simply purchase silicone sheets that are placed on the rack below and catch any spills.

Or place a bowl of ammonia in the ovenover night plug up the vent holes before you put the ammonia in.

Never heard anyone rave about AquaLift.

Ammonia works well.

My GE regular self-cleaning range is 15 years old, no electronics failures thus far.

I use krud kutter to clean my oven, works like a charm. Don’t have the particular item you’re asking about but have never used the self-cleaning feature due to the issues mentioned above.

I had a KA induction range and the aqualift was useless. I used fume-free easy off when needed. Several appliance repair techs have told us to never use the self cleaning cycle, so I was excited to try the aqualift.

Owner reviews of the Kitchenaid induction ranges appear very good (90+ recommend) at both Home Depot and Lowes.

The GE Profile PHS930SLSSinduction range is Consumer Reports top-rated range and owners seem to like it as well. It was rated "Excellent" in self-cleaning.

The new Frigidaire FGIH3047VF is remarkably inexpensive -- for a slide-in -- at $1500 and has excellent, though not many, owner reviews. Also at Lowes.

Beverly, do you use the silicone mats with a hidden heating element? I understood not to use foil on the bottom as it will void the warranty. I do have the Aqua Lift clean at our vacation home which we also rent, and am cleaning the oven every 1-2 weeks between guests. Using a foil wrapped pan on the bottom shelf to catch spills which has helped, but the side splatters are still a problem. Still takes elbow grease when using Aqua Lift; imagine if it was cleaned after every spill it might be more effective but that’s not realistic, especially with a rental

You are correct that foil, silicone mats, or anything else must not be placed directly on the oven floor of electric ovens with a hidden bake element, or gas ovens.
