pickling spice usually contains a mixture of things like mustard seed, bay leaf, whole cloves, black peppercorns, allspice, cinnamon stock maybe some ginger and/or coriander. I just bought some locally and it had some whole dried hot peppers of some type, but that's not something I usually find, at least not big whole ones. Sometimes they have flakes of hot pepper in small amounts.

I do use it for other things, I just corned a venison roast and that recipe takes pickling spice, but it's not something a lot of people do any more.

thanks Annie. yeah I have receipes for home made pickling mixes. But concerned about this particular Brand.. I dont want any junk like MSG etc in my stuff if I can avoid it.

cause then I will throw the contents in the woods and recycle the plastic jar. LOL... Like I did the "Spice World" brand last year.

I just last nite made WHOLE a pt jar of curry spice.... It was the" mamawellness "one.( 11 dif spices mixture) I will put some of it at a time ,, it in the empty Curry spice glass bottle with shaker,, I use it everyday on my eggs cause of the turmeric etc
